Kanakakunnu Place is the last trace of the architectural remnant of the colonial era. It is constructed in typical Kerala style of architecture with a fascinating red colored facade that attracts everyone, and it is situated very close to the famous Napier Museum. Kanakakunnu Palace was constructed during the reign of His Highness Sree Moolam Thirunal Maharaja who was the prominent King of Travancore. Aloft a small hill stands the Kanakakunnu Palace with its head held high, surrounding green meadows adoring the place. This Palace hosts the All India Dance Festival, known as the Nishagandhi festival and a number of cultural events are organized at the well-maintained ground near the Palace.
