For Decades, Kerala Kalamandalam has been recognized as the most prestigious Kathakali school in the entire world. The main aim of establishing this centre is for the revival and uplifting of traditional performing art forms of Kerala. Kerala Kalamandalam was originally set up by the famous Malayalam Poet, Vallathol Narayana Menon. Today, Kerala Kalamandalam is an official deemed University for Art and Culture. And it is the supreme proponent of a variety of classic India art forms like Kathakali, Mohiniyattam, Kuchipudi, Bharatanatyam, Kudiyattam, Thullal and Nangiarkoothu. Performances and classes regarding the traditional art forms are held regularly in Kalamandalam. Eminent artists from across the state and beyond perform regularly at the Koothambalam which is the famous dance theatre of the Kerala Kalamandalam.
