Nelliyampathy - Nenmara

Nenmara

Nenmara is a small picturesque village in the vicinity of Nelliyampathy and is the entry point to the beautiful Nelliyampathy. The word Nenmara literally means the "The Store Room Of Rice". This rural village is divided into two branches namely, Nenmara and Vallangi. These two villages were important trade centres in the past. Every year Nenmara hosts the famous Vela festival, also known as the Nenmara-Vallangi Vela festival which is jointly organized with the Vallangi village. This festival is famous for its amazing fireworks and the processions of richly caparisoned elephants. Nenmara also celebrates the largest temple festival in Kerala, Thrissur Pooram with great grandeur after the harvesting of rice.
