Kokkamangalam Apostle St. Thomas Pilgrim Centre is an ancient shrine which is believed to have been built by Apostle St Thomas in the year 52 AD. This pilgrim centre is located 23 Km away from Mararikulam. There is a portrait of St. Thomas inside the church which was brought from the Carmelite Monastery Mannanam in 1897 in accordance with revelation. It is one of the major pilgrim centers in Kerala. It is believed that St. Thomas preached gospel for about a year in Kokkamangalam and converted around 1600 people into Christianity and he also enshrined a Cross for the faithful at Kokkamangalam. The church also contains an ancient Relic of Apostle St. Thomas, which was brought by Pope John Paul II from Ortona in Italy in November 1999.
