Also known as “Taj Juma Masjid”, the Thazhathangady Mosque (Juma Masjid) is an architectural wonder that is believed to be built 1000 years ago. It is also regarded as one of the oldest mosques in India. Constructed in typical Kerala style of architecture, it is considered as a metaphor of cultural and ethnic harmony in Kerala. Renowned for its amazing architecture, scenic beauty and wood carvings, it attracts a lot of architectural lovers. The mosque has a square-shaped inner courtyard and the gabled roof is delicately carved in wood. The doors and windows of the mosques are also beautifully decorated with wooden carvings.
