Pazhassi Raja Museum and Art Gallery is a veritable treasure trove for connoisseurs of art and history buffs. The Kerala State Archaeology Department is in charge of this historic museum. It houses artefacts from 1000 B.C. to 200 A.D. along with collections from the megalithic age and the Indus Valley Civilization. Beautiful mural paintings, models of temples, umbrella stones, antique bronzes, ancient coins, dolmenoid cists (quadrangular burial chambers with capstones), and similar megalithic monuments are on the display at this museum. In the vicinity of the museum stands the art gallery, which displays paintings of great artists of Kerala, Raja Ravi Varma, and Raja Varma. These paintings give a visual history of Kerala.
