Kozhikode - Mananchira Square

Kozhikode - Mananchira Square

Mananchira Square is one of the most visited spots in Kozhikode and is known to be every urban dweller’s paradise. The Mananchira Square is bounded by a man-made fresh-water pond which is fed by a natural shower that supplies water to the surrounding regions till today. This pond was built as a bathing pool by Zamorin Mana Vikrama, the feudal ruler of Kozhikode in the 14th century. There is a large ground called 'Mananchira Maidan' which is famous for hosting many football matches. The Mananchira Square is an architectural marvel at the heart of the city with its fabulous landscaped lawns, traditional Kerala style buildings, musical fountain, and an open-air theatre.
