The Devaswom Museum situated inside the Guruvayur Temple premises is a part of many cultural promotions that happen in the temple. The Devaswom Museum is known for its variety of valuable collections which have been presented to the temple since 5000 years ago. The Devaswom Museum includes artifacts like antique musical instruments, paintings, jewels, elephant tusks, rifle, etc. All these were donated to the presiding deity of the Guruvayur temple. Once inside the museum you will catch a glimpse of how people in Kerala lived in ancient times and their lifestyle. The museum also displays the works and portraits of age old poets like Melapthur and Poonthanam. Ornaments that were used to adorn the Kathakali dancers are also showcased.
